Satoru Iwata, the President of Nintendo said he doesn’t like attempts to paint Apple and his company as rivals. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Iwata is an Apple fan himself, carrying an iPhone and using a Mac laptop on a regular basis. He claims the two companies appeal to different consumers, and says that attempts to create a rivalry make him “uncomfortable.”
At an investors event in Tokyo, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata admitted a “miscalculation” was made about the game market. This comes as Nintendo records its first decline in profits in six years. On top of that – he also said Nintendo is aware of the weak 2009 software releases. He continued saying “Now, we are preparing for next year and thinking about what to do the year after next. We’re thinking about our best chances for success.”
All these read “new hardware”. So don’t buy anything Nintendo until any confirmed announcements are made. Hint: new Wii.
Okay, maybe the end is nigh part is a little off – but you get the picture. The Japanese gaming giant has announced a drop in interim net profits from ¥144.83 billion yen this time last year to just ¥69.49 billion yen this past six months, with a 43-percent drop in Wii sales. I hope Nintendo has learn a valuable lesson here. People don’t have parties all the time. Ignoring your Core gamers and focusing on Casual gamers is a death wish. It took longer than it should for people to realize it’s just a fad and now your figures is reflective of this realization.
The Nintendo Wii is really gearing up for the holiday season. So many new and exciting games coming on all platforms. I can’t decide which I want more? Knowing very well Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be taking most if not all of my gaming time for the next year or so. I need to focus. The bright side is, this game will only be released on 26th January 2010.
It’s official and dated. The New Super Mario Bros. Wii will be coming on November 15th 2009 in US and December 3rd 2009 in Japan. Time to dust off your Nintendo Wii and recharge those darn Wii Remotes. Mario is back!
Amazon.co.uk has listed the new black Nintendo Wii bundled with Wii Motion Plus & Wii Sports Resort on it’s site. Retailing for £164.99 (Approx. RM917) and ships from November 6th 2009. For comparison, the white unit is retailing for RM990 bundled with 2 Wii Remotes locally. No game, no Wii Motion Plus included. So, the UK black Nintendo Wii is not bad a deal after all.
