LittleBigPlanet: New Costumes

These cute costumes for LittleBigPlanet will be hitting the US Playstation Network this Thursday! I don’t care much for the Motorstorm helmet or Shark but dying to get the Eating-Plant and Gorilla! You can buy them individually at US$0.99 each or bundled price of US$2.99. I imagine, with that Gorilla suit, someone will start creating a 1950s stage featuring New York with the Empire State Building and all. Man! This game is organic!

Any idea how many levels been published and if we are actually able to access all of them? This game is ‘special’ in the way you can surf to look for interesting levels. I can’t think of any other games like this (yet, and I might be wrong).

According to this, there could be 40,000 levels published already! But I am not seeing them from my pod.

However, we noted that when we played with some other unknown guys, we were brought to unheard levels.

Am not sure how the levels are displayed. Have not really explored this game much since Resistance 2 and Call Of Duty arrived. But its still a fun game to play with some friends who are not into shooting games. I like the idea that its never ending and new user created levels are being generated. One thing I noticed about those “unheard levels” – say if a friend already completed the game and you have just started, if he brings u to his POD and you guys play a game or two on those levels – these levels will also be added to your world. And since whatever bubbles you guys collected in those levels are shared – you will notice that when you select that level again on your own, you will still see the percentage of items already collected by your friend and you do not need to re-collect them again. Am I making any sense to you? Hmmmm. I hope I am.

    Hi BigMacky,

Yes it is making sense. I realized they built the game from the standpoint of a sharing platform. For example, we have more than a few users on one unit of PS3, and yet any level completed by any of the user will be shared (all the collectibles etc) by whoever log on to play on the SAME PS3 unit. At first I thought this is not so challenging, but further down the road, this reflects the idea behind the whole game – coop playing. It is a good idea / philosophy to have, one that would teach ourselves that whatever we do would be shared / affecting others. I like this concept.

Looks like different POD will have different sites…. I need to explore this. still can’t get on to your recommended GOD OF WAR level. This game is incredible – and I have not started on the creation yet. Last nite we played a level full of slides, it is very contagious!

A very ethical and intelligent game, one that is hard to come by!

Bet you’re having ton loads of fun with your kdis. This is really a great game.

To all those who are still contemplating in getting a Playstation 3 (Justy and Zirconic – I am looking at both of you) – you should just give in and buy buy buy!

I am biased – if there is only 1 console to invest, PS3 is the one. I am no fan boy but think rationally this is the decision. Sorry I am not against X box or Wii but X box has reliability issue and Wii, I have a cousin who played for a while and sold off. I think they both will not last very long. But if I am a gamer, I might just go for them cause you can get pirated games!!! Since I need more than a gaming console that can really last a long time (my PS2 is still giving lots of funs to my kids), and i can only afford ONE unit (discipline….) i opted for PS3. If you have a NAS Server with tons of music / photos / video files, and you have a PSP, and enjoy gorgeous HD movies (Blu ray) PS3 is a very natural way to go. I am tempted to get the new BATMAN Bluray disk when it is launched, after reading how they shot it in the Wired magazine….

The true blue Sony FanBoy has spoken. Hehehehe. Will definitely be getting The Dark Knight on Blu-ray. Not sure if you are aware – we have Blu-ray and Game Rentals locally.

I think I was only an Amiga Fanboy (cause I never own the machine!). I am very ulu la, where can we get BR & PS3 games rental locally??? I also wish I could sell off / exchange some of the games I never really played – Portal being one. Do you play GTA 4? I am amazed how well this game is selling, when my experience with GTA on PS2 is a complete disappointment (it is so damn rude and ….).

Sad to say, other than Call Of Duty 4, which I play religiously every single night for the past 1 year. I never complete most of my games. I can count the number of games that I’ve completed. So, u can imagine. How few they are. Off hand, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, ermmmm .. Call of Duty 4? U see my point?

GTA IV, well, the hype is bigger than the game, thats for sure. Its a nice experience, but its not a lasting experience. Am not very good with these “sandbox” games where you’re free to roam wherever.

AS for the Blu-ray & PS3 games rental, you can check out any of these websites:

    Hi BigMacky,

I realized that too – the games we played through, or nearly through are very little. Yet we bought so many pirated games for PS2! Thought they are real cheap, but they are a lot of waste.

We have less waste on PS3 cause the games are expensive and we only buy what we think we can play together (together with the kids as much as possible)

I believe this is why casual games on Wii is taking off real fast. But casual gaming does not inspire. It is like watching advertisement. I will sound very philosophical now – watching a good movie (life is beautiful, black hawk down, even casino royale) can be a very powerful moving experience. They entertain, and inspire in their own ways. Games like that are hard to come by, and might not exist in casual gaming.

So I sound serious here! Ha! A good game should be one that makes you laugh more than having frustrations! And so far, I could only see one on PS3 – LBP, even though Uncharted could be also quite humorous (bit primitive now). thought provoking games? Not seen yet on consoles.

Since COD4 is so well played by you, I might try it out sometime in the future. Cheers.

Totally agree with the going original and better appreciation of great games comment. As for Call Of Duty, everyone is playing Call Of Duty: World At War now. Thats the newest game in the series. Came out couple of days ago. Its so addictive. But if you are not into First Person Shooters – you might not like it. But a game like that, with online multiplayer – its kinda like Tennis. Its the same court, maybe different players and hence, the fun is never ending. In case you wanna try, I suggest you rent the game first before deciding. Oh by the way, please rent a Region 1 disc, else I can’t connect with you. 🙂

Hi,my website is not finish yet.I got the Yellow Head costume already phew is was hard! How to get Nariko’ costume and the Kratos costume?

  13. 13 BigMacky January 14, 2009 at 9:33 am

Welcome to my blog. If not mistaken, I think Nariko and Kratos were special costumes given to people who pre-ordered the game at Gamestop in the US before its release. Alternatively, get your dad to buy a code off eBay. Haha. That’ll work as well. Heard from your dad, you guys are great with this game. Hope you will complete your level soon. So that others can give it a go. 🙂
