Movie: The Women

I came across this movie reviewer, Jackie K. Cooper and his take on The Women. I had a blast reading his rating scale and description. A movie is rated on a scale of 1 to 10. Description for 1 is “Make them pay you to see it”. 2 – “Take an enemy to see it”. 3 – “Pick a comfortable seat so you can sleep through most of it”. 4 – “Be alert for the good parts that are few and far between”.  And I think he was generous to give The Women a rating of 4. I would probably give it a 3 at most. With names such as Meg Ryan, Eva Mendes and Jada Pickett Smith – how bad can it be – right? Wrong! This movie is so bland, it makes watching paint dry a thrilling experience. It just felt like a bad knockoff of Sex & The City. Complete with the Samantha look alike best-friend, super-nosey housekeeper and some Charlotte York and Miranda Hobbes thrown in here and there. When the movie started with Sylvia Fowler’s (Annette Bening) The Terminator vision scanning branded handbags in a shopping mall – I knew it was going to be a tough ride. Jada Pickett Smith’s moody, alcoholic lesbian character who are dating an even moodier supermodel – will keep you looking at your watch for a merciful end. Take heed,  don’t even waste your money on rental.

Glad you liked my rating scale. What is the best movie you have seen this year?

    Jackie Cooper

Ah yes, I had fun reading your work. Honestly, I am more of a videogame guy than a movie guy. I can’t recall watching any good movies this year other than The Dark Knight which I personally think redefines the superhero genre. But some of my all time favorite movies include As Good As It Gets, Next Stop Wonderland, Happiness, Something’s Gotta Give, Crash, and The Bourne Trilogy – just to name a few. Please keep up the good work. I will be visiting regularly. 🙂
