PlayStation 3 Wireless Keypad

The Wireless Keypad for the Sony PlayStation 3 turns your regular controller into a texting device with mouse input capabilities, while still maintaining full gameplay functionality. This Bluetooth device attaches to any DualShock 3 or SixAxis wireless controller and enables effortless Internet browsing, emailing and instant messaging on the PlayStation Network and PlayStation Home. Continue for more pictures:

Mimicking the QWERTY keypad on smartphones, this device is also designed for fast, thumbs-only typing. The unique touchpad feature allows for convenient scrolling and mouse for the PlayStation 3 on-screen display. When you touchpad is pressed, you can not use the keys for character input, but you can slide your finger on this area to select something on screen.

Dedicated short-cut keys provide time-saving instant access to Message Box and other online communication applications on the PlayStation Network. This device charges by connecting it directly to the PlayStation 3 system using a standard USB cable. It is important to note that this device features Blue tooth 2.0, with an operating range of up to 33 feet, and it comes equipped with a rechargeable Lithium-ion polymer battery (Capacity: 610mAh).

By integrating all these features into a sleek and elegant design you can further enhance your online interactivity on the PlayStation 3 system.

It doesn’t add much weight to the sixaxis controller and the feel is very solid. You may need some getting used to but the Touchpad feature is pretty neat.

Retailing for US$49.99 on – of course you can do away with just a regular US$10 keyboard but the convenience of being able to chat without having to put your controller down while you’re sitting 5 feet away from your USB keyboard during a game – is a desirable feature indeed.

    Hi BM,

You think it is good to get a PS3 controller (we have one original unit that has somehow stop working – some keys are stuck and so you can’t jump!) here in Malaysia from Sony Store or some game store? Or get it from Amazon? Have not done my shopping comparison yet….

Happy new year – coming so soon, as we continue to age.

Hv you tried LBP MGS DLC pack? It is short and hilarious, and I don’t mind being killed by the machines cause it is fun! Come to think of it, it is rare that you enjoy being killed in a game!

For the DS3 controller, you should just get it from a local game shop. Do not pay more than RM160 for a DS3 or alternatively, you can get a standard sixaxis controller around RM90 – RM100 (depending on your bargain power) from forum members who are selling their units which came with the machine. You can find them here:

No I haven’t tried LittleBigPlanet MGS DLC pack. Have not been gaming much the past 2 weeks. Started playing Call Of Duty 4 again but this time, on Xbox360 as the Playstation connection sucks.

Happy new year to you too.

Well, the petrol, toll and parking you saved without having to come all the way down to KL is about that. So, not too bad. 🙂
