Ip Man: Blu-ray

My first proper KungFu movie on Blu-ray, excluding movies such as KungFu Hustle or KungFu Panda. Am eagerly waiting for Zhang YiMou’s 2002 Hero starring Maggie Cheung, Tony Leong and Jet Li. Loved that movie again not because of the KungFu but cinematography by Christopher Doyle. That guy is super-duper-talented. Never have I seen a Chinese KungFu movie with such artistic direction and colors.

Slumdog Millionaire

On February 22, 2009, the film won eight out of ten Academy Awards it was nominated for, including the Best Picture and Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Sound Mixing, Best Film Editing, Best Original Score and Best Original Song (two songs were nominated from the film; “Jai Ho” won the award), losing only Best Sound Editing to The Dark Knight. It is only the eighth film ever to win eight Academy Awards. Directed by Danny Boyle, who brought us Trainspotting, The Beach, 28 Days Later, Sunshine – there were some high expectations. In short, its a movie about 3 kids who grew up in the slumps of Mumbai, separated and reunited later in their adulthood.

Killzone 2: Unboxing

The biggest game on PS3 this year is finally here. The intro cinematics is just awesome! The details on each character’s face. The skin tone. The pores! Have they finally learned from their past mistakes with regards to Online Multiplayer? Now, you can choose which region you wish to connect to. US, EU, Asia, AUS, JPN etc. And selecting one region, you can change your region again later as frequent as you wish. Selected Asia, connections seems fairly ok and didn’t notice much lag. Could this be the future of Online Multiplayer? Has our prayer finally been answered?

Here It Is

No bull shitting. No scam. For once, its for real. The only twist to this story is I was supposed to get just US$100 but since there was a delay in giving me the code, the seller said he would sweeten the deal for me and give me a US$200 code instead. And he kept his promise.

梅艷芳: Faithfully

Having such a retrolicious blast from the past listening to this compilation containing 45 tracks on 3-CDs of Anita Mui’s earlier works from the 80s. All her corny and cringe worthy tracks like 将冰山劈开 (Jiang Bing Shan Pi Kai) , 坏女孩 (Huai Nu Hai) or the bad bad bad bad boy 妖女 (Yao Nu) are all here! Mun-Nei-Sei-Mei (Literal English translation: Ask you die yet or not). For more info and complete track listing, continue:

Ip Man: The Movie

I am never a fan of KungFu movies. Especially those featuring JetLi or Jacky Chan. Thats why I never paid much attention to this movie when it came out. I heard a lot of good reviews from friends and even my Indian Barber. So, couple of nights ago, I finally gave in and watched it. Surprisingly, I enjoyed it so much that I am getting the Blu-ray. If you still haven’t seen it, please give it a go. Its rare to see a good Chinese movies these days – so, its a gem.
