梅艷芳: Faithfully

Having such a retrolicious blast from the past listening to this compilation containing 45 tracks on 3-CDs of Anita Mui’s earlier works from the 80s. All her corny and cringe worthy tracks like 将冰山劈开 (Jiang Bing Shan Pi Kai) , 坏女孩 (Huai Nu Hai) or the bad bad bad bad boy 妖女 (Yao Nu) are all here! Mun-Nei-Sei-Mei (Literal English translation: Ask you die yet or not). For more info and complete track listing, continue:

Anita Mui left us in December 2003. After five years, the fans are still incredibly missing the Canto-pop legend, and this commemorative album arrives just in time. Titled Faithfully, the 3-CD set is jam-packed with 45 Mui classics, including one disc of award-winning songs, one disc of selected hits, and one disc of movie theme tunes.

The DVD contains 15 important performances from the pop diva’s career spanning two decades, from “The Season of the Wind” with which an 18-year-old Anita won the first New Talent singing contest in 1982, to her Mandarin medley performed during her acceptance of RTHK’s Golden Needle Award in 1998. Other rare footages include live performances in concerts and for TVB and RTHK, plus duets with other superstars like Leslie Cheung, Alan Tam, and Danny Chan.

First Press limited edition comes in a deluxe boxset packaging with a 40-page lyric booklet, and a 2009 collectible calendar featuring 12 of Anita’s iconic images.

    Hi BigMacky,

Your blog indicates that you are very good in Pinyin and Chinese Characters and quite a fan of HK entertainers!

Got a question – have you tried copy the digital copy of Dark Knight to your iPhone? I tried to tx on my iTune (to my iPod) but the redeem code seems to indicate that it is not a valid code. I have a Malaysia account. I think I might need to create a US account. Meaning I got to purchase some credits from Amazon or ???

    What’s your advice on this?

Hahahahahah. My friends will be laughing their toes off. I can’t write or read chinese. Thanks to the education system here in Boleh-land. But I do love the language. I find Mandarin being a very romantic language. (no, this has nothing to do with the Taipei story earlier). Between listening to a Mandarin song and a Cantonese song – I prefer Mandarin. Because the language is more flowery and gentle.

I don’t think my Pinyin are very accurate. But yeah, I grew up listening to Hong Kong music by Leslie, Alan, Anita, Danny and the whole works. Watching Jade Solid Gold on TVB is my religion.

I haven’t tried the digital copy of The Dark Knight. I am using a US iTunes account. But my guess is the same as yours. You’ll need a US iTunes account to get it working.

Have you heard of those US$200 iTunes Card going for RM160? I am in the midst of trying to get hold of one and will let you know if its a success or con-job. To be safe, its best to create a new iTunes account for code activation. We’ll see how it goes. If it does work, will give you my contact.

you r going 2b my guru 4 all things gadget….ommmmmm

Though I can’t speak cantonese well at all (got Hokkien accent so if you want a laugh do hear me utter them) I understand that cantonese has more than the 4 tones of Mandarin. I think it has got 12, so effectively, if one speaks in perfection, cantonese should sound more refined. Bad thing is that in HK, everyone shouts becoz of pollution (noise) I think. I heard some soft speaking HK ladies and it does sound very very femine and nice.

But there could be more artistic Chinese singers than Cantonese, so maybe that explains your experience.

I also grew up in Bolehland but maybe I am fortunate as I got to attend to Chinese school & went thru very early years of English classes on my own. So best of both worlds, and I truly appreciate this, esp when you begin to study deeper into Chinese language (I am struggling….)

Hope to hear good news from you on the itune card. Exchange rate is killing me now.
