Shinjuku Incident

Just came back from watching this movie. Went in with zero expectations and knowledge of the story line other than it taking place in Japan. I enjoyed this movie more than I thought I would since it’s a Jackie Chan movie. I’ve stopped being a fan since his Hollywood crossover. According to director Derek Yee, the film has been in the planning stages for almost 10 years. The movie is banned in China for its unflattering portrayal of illegal Chinese immigrants and for its violence. Daniel Wu’s character was very well written and he played it flawlessly. According to interviews by Jackie Chan himself, he described the movie as “maybe one per cent action. Heavy drama”. And that’s probably why I enjoyed it.
