Ha! I think they should charge you to sit in a non-baby row. 🙂

“Upgrades” are the way of the future. Going to a local steak house, I ordered a baked potato with my steak. Butter was included free (how nice) but sour cream, bacon bits and chives were an “upgrade” and would cost me an additional $1. Funny, I never went back to that restaurant again, which has since closed down.

Retailers know the power of displaying the lowest initial price. By hiding costs as upgrades or options, than can actually convince customers to spend more than it would cost somewhere else. Smart consumers compare all the costs before making their choice. It puts more work on the consumer, though, to avoid paying more than they have to.
