Back To iPhone Once Again

I just re-joined every Tom, Dick, Harry, Mary, Lucy and Jane – for being an iPhone user once again. But this time, I got an official Maxis unit instead. No more jailbreaking. No more waiting for a solution to update everytime Apple releases a new firmware. Got this 32Gb iPhone 3GS earlier. Since I did not want to be tied down by Maxis, I had to pay a premium price for this contract free unit. Oh well, I had a fling with Android, now am back to Apple’s turf once again.

Congrats! It’s a minor miracle that you managed to get a unit without having to wait.

I was so desperate for a unit (plus I knew that I wouldn’t be able to tolerate being in the long queue) that I ended up getting an iPod Touch 32GB instead, lol.

      David

iPod Touch to replace your urge for an iPhone 3GS. It’s all in Apple’s masterplan! In the end, you’ll own an iPod Touch and the iPhone 3GS. None can escape the temptation from Cupertino. Apple is EVIL! I tell ya! EVIL!

So what’s gonna happen to your Hero and what changed your mind? I’m also considering going back to Nokia. Maybe thinking of getting the N900.

I’m an Apple fan. Always have and always will be. But I guess the main reason why I’ve gotten myself the iPhone 3GS is mainly because of a couple of reasons. Firstly, the user experience. Though it’s not new, but it’s by far the most refined. iTunes – podcasts, apps, media management, no other brands can come close. And the final reason and a major one too – being able to get a contract free, officially unlocked phone. No longer having to jailbreak.

Even after I got my Android, I missed my iPhone. Check out these older posts back in September:

Hahahaha. You do know me well. But not really just this particular app, but the overall media management on iTunes. It’s just too easy. Podcasts, music, photos, movies – everything is so easily synced. 🙂

Finally… hehe. I am still able to resist iPhone 3G S. Actually, my pocket is just not deep enough.

Why not get a contract free unit like me? That way, you can continue to enjoy your RM99/month Unlimited Data. Sweet!

    BigMacky,

Wow.. you’re right. But the contract free unit price is the highest… right? But still legit

If you buy outright from Maxis (which currently this option is not available), the price is RM2990 and RM2490 for 32Gb and 16Gb respectively. Buying an official Maxis contract free unit from sellers at lowyat.net will cost you additional RM350 more. Totally worth it. It’s an official Maxis unit. Sealed. Comes with warranty. BUT contract free. For additional RM350 – that’s a steal. Just check out lowyat.net for some sellers.

    BigMacky,

    Sounds like a good deal. RM2990 + 350 = RM3,340.

Folks are selling those Maxis 3GS between RM3250 to RM3300 for 32Gb unit. You don’t have to be tied down with a contract and no waiting 30-days for your phone as well. Totally worth it. 🙂

    BigMacky,

How do I know it’s legit? These are sellers from lowyat forum?

You see the photo on this post? It has a Maxis Service Card. Double check the IMEI number on the card with the IMEI number on your phone. Go to SETTINGS / GENERAL / ABOUT and scroll down.

      Make sure they match. 🙂

Yeah. These are folks who got their units and decided to sell instead. But the contract is in their name. So, you need not worry about it. You’ll just be having a contract free phone. And Maxis will service you as long as you have the card and correct IMEI number.
